1. Explain what you want from solar
Provide your postcode, property type and approximate electricity use. Mention a battery, EV or heat pump you are considering, as well as planned roof work. Grays Solar passes enquiries to partner installers; you do not enter an installation contract by completing our form.
2. Agree the next appointment
Partner installers can get potential customers booked in within 24 hours of receiving an enquiry. That is a booking response, not a promise that a survey or installation will be completed in that time. Agree the appointment date, purpose and any access arrangements directly.
3. Review the survey and proposed design
Ask the installer to assess roof condition, shade, available space, electrical supply and equipment locations. The written proposal should explain the recommended capacity, predicted generation and any additional checks. Raise questions before accepting the scope.
4. Compare the contract and permissions
Check the legal installer name, payment schedule, equipment, exclusions and warranty terms. Agree who handles planning matters, building-regulations requirements and the network operator’s process. Any necessary prior approvals should be resolved before dependent work starts.
5. Confirm the installation programme
The installer sets the timetable for access, scaffolding, roof work and electrical work. Ask about disruption, weather delays and the procedure if extra work is discovered. Installation duration varies by project; we do not promise every property will be completed in one day.
6. Check the handover
Before treating the project as complete, obtain the agreed records and a demonstration of the system. Keep the fault-reporting and aftercare contacts. Your chosen energy supplier confirms the requirements for export payments.
